In the short term, the focus is on expanding local hydrogen production, especially for the decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries in the core countries of Austria, Germany and Spain.
To this end, VERBUND is developing partnership projects for hydrogen production for direct use at offtakers’ sites in order to ensure the immediate reliable availability of green hydrogen.
In the long term, European hydrogen needs will not be met by local production alone. That is why VERBUND is working on building a diversified portfolio of import projects. As a result, VERBUND has concluded a series of partnerships for the joint, large-scale generation of green hydrogen in a number of regions.
As an integrated supplier, VERBUND aims to produce green hydrogen, coordinate transport in core markets, and make it available to customers and partners at their sites.
